Sirius Radio have exclusive rights to Stern's radio show, and also gave Stern the right to build at least two full-time programming channels. XM Satellite Radio produces the majority of its channels, as well as a few others that are not available via satellite, available on the Internet.

As of October 2005, XM Radio leads Sirius Satellite Radio in subscriptions in the U.S. satellite radio market. The combination of three satellites and a ground-based repeater network is designed to provide XM Radio with gap-free coverage anywhere within the continental U.S. XM Satellite Radio has 2 satellites in space that beam down over one hundred channels of content.

On November 29, 2005, XM launched its service in Canada. While it�s not cheap, the Recepter HD might just be worth the price.
